Week 2 Activities - Entity - Relational Modelling

Week Lesson Activity Learning Assessment Skill Developed

apply the database developmental cycle to a given data set

design a fully functional database (containing at least four inter-relational tables) including user interface

evaluate the effectiveness of the database solution and suggest methods of improvement

provide supporting user and technical documentation

1.1
  • 60 min As a team create the ERD or Class diagram for your e-commerce website
  • 30 min Get your proposed design checked and signed off by your manager as being in third normal form
  • 60 min Each member of the team needs to document user requirements for editing one entity as a use case with a full flow of events.
  • 60 min Each member of the team needs to document user stories with example data validation.
  • 120 min Each member of the team needs to create a example user interface for a form in HTML5 for editing one entity. This one uses Bootstrap for styling
  • Web Page How to Style an HTML5 Form using CSS3 instead of Bootstrap
  • 30 min Each member of the team needs to write notes on the effectiveness of the proposed design and to suggest improvements
  • 30 min Each member of the team needs to ensure that they have documented their entities sufficiently to produce a data dictionary from Visual Paradigm.
  • 30 min Add sample data to the ERD. Link the model to a SQL Server Database and create the database with sample data added.
